We urgently need volunteers to help maintain our grounds and help with the animals. We also need tour guides to help with our education program. We would love to have volunteers to help on weekends in our gift store.

At North Island Wildlife Recovery Centre we couldn’t operate without our amazing volunteers whose dedication and commitment has helped make this a world class facility.
If your passion is wildlife, people or gardening we have a place for you. We continue to have opportunities for volunteers for our gift shop, wildlife education program, volunteer coordinator, fundraiser, event planner, animal care, yard maintenance and cleaning.
We’re opening for the season on March 15 until October 31st and we’d love to have you as part of our team.
"Seeing the fascination on children's faces as they listen to the stories about each animal resident and hearing their comments on how they feel we can protect the environment gives me hope for the future" Rosemarie.
"I love being even a small part in such a worthwhile cause, and I get to meet some amazing like-minded people from all over the world while helping out in the gift shop" Ann.
"The staff and other volunteers are a friendly, caring group of people - this is a great place to spend time on a regular basis, and I have learned so much about wildlife in BC since I have been volunteering at the NIWRA" Gillian.
"I have a disabilty, but that disappears when I am with the people and the animals at the centre. Here, life is simple, and caring is abundant. The animals don't care who you are, or what you do, only that you are a kindred spirit, giving and caring to them. They respond in kind, as new relationships are forged" Suzanne.
